Physical Therapy Centennial COPhysical Therapy in Centennial

Heritage Health is excited to offer Centennial physical therapy and related services to the Denver Metro Area. Physical therapy here at our Centennial, Colorado office provides our patients with active treatment options to address their symptoms and treat the underlying condition.

The Physical Therapy services provided at our office differ significantly from what you may have experienced at other offices. Our Physical Therapist, Michael Stofan, entered the field after going through Physical Therapy himself for a variety of injuries. Because of his personal experience with PT after rotator cuff surgery, elbow surgery, ankle fractures, joint dislocations, and a total hip replacement, Mike works differently than most other physical therapists. He utilizes what worked for him when he was a patient, including manual therapy and hands-on techniques, not just exercises and stretches. Many of our patients have found that Physical Therapy that didn’t work for them at other offices were nothing like the treatments provided by Mike.

There are several factors that make Physical Therapy here at Heritage Health different. Mike stresses the use of hands-on work. This means that each session includes one-on-one time rather than simply stretching or exercising on your own under the therapist’s supervision. Heritage Health is a multi-disciplinary office, meaning that we are able to incorporate chiropractic, dry needling, and massage therapy into our Physical Therapy care plans, when necessary. Because Mike has worked alongside chiropractors, acupuncturists, and massage therapists since 2001, every patient receives a customized treatment plan to address their particular problem. Using the expertise of our different practitioners, we are able to provide more comprehensive treatment options than are available at other offices who provide only physical therapy.

Physical Therapy can be effective whenever a patient demonstrates decreased flexibility, reduced strength, a lack of coordination or dexterity, inadequate conditioning, or limitations in normal joint range of motion or soft tissue restrictions. Because many different pain-causing problems are creating by the underlying loss of normal function, Physical Therapy has been proven effective in the management of many different conditions, including:

    • Rotator cuff injuries
    • Bursitis
    • Tendinitis
    • Arthritis
    • Sprains/strains
    • Disc problems
    • Pinched nerves
    • Following surgical procedures, such as total knee replacements and neck/back surgeries.

Physical Therapy treatment sessions typically include the use of some type of pain relieving modalities (heat, ice, ultrasound, electrical stimulation), at least early in the treatment process. The first goal of therapy is to reduce pain and inflammation and get you feeling better. The ultimate goal of Physical Therapy is to address the loss of normal function that cause the development of painful conditions. This is where a variety of hands-on techniques, including soft tissue massage, joint mobilization, nerve mobilization, and manual stretching can be very effective. At this stage, patients are also instructed in stretching and strengthening exercises as necessary, depending upon the particular condition.
